''La Tribune'' newspaper on Doriane's digital contribution to plant research
Doriane's digital contribution to plant research
The editor based in Nice has developed a software allowing research departments to prepare and follow their applied research project. Mainly in agronomy.
The goal is to serve research efficiency. How ? With a software called RnDExperience. A name to be understood as "experience feedback", says Frédéric Royer, its president.
A premonitory vision of Big Data
Born in 1986, Doriane used its expertise to create software that can support the director of research in the application of his innovation and project, thus providing management tools. First called LABKEY, its name changes last year and becomes RnDExperience, allowing to collect data, to analyze data statistically, to follow the evolutions of the project ... And targets the agro-food industry sector in particular.
This is an area where experimentation is used to endorse innovation. In this case data processing is essential. "We were doing big data well ahead of time," says Frédéric Royer. Because the software allows the trilogy : collecting data / validation / decision making.
To adapt with various uses, RnDExperience is available in Saas version, in Ready version - a pre-configured software - in Custom version - customized - and in mobile version (RnDExp Mobile), an offline application, essential for moving around the field. The clients of the SME with 12 employees are seed companies, agro-food industry and private or public research institutes. For example, Ragt, the European leader in cereals, Secobra Research, specialized in malting barley, Unisigma, working on the genetic improvement of cereals. There is also Morel Diffusion, the creator of hybrid cyclamens based in the Var or Cristal Union (Daddy sugar).
Of course, Doriane is international - where it carries out 30% of its activity - notably via La Coop Fédérée, the fourth largest company in Québec, CPS India, subsidiary of a large Taïwaness group or DBN, a Chinese group. China, where the company signed a contract last October with Biocentury Tangente, the No. 1 in cotton. All customers from the same sector, but with different problems. Thus, "in the emerging countries, our customers are seeking work methods".
